Corporate Agility – Wasya Co

Gym creates time and creates focus, by the way. It’s not that I “don’t have time” for gym. Rather, if I’m stuck on a concept, lack focus, or lack motivation – I perform physical exercise, and that helps me gain focus, allows my mind to explore insight in a more creative way, and possibly gets me un-stuck from a local bog. Simply switching the mindset, from gym is unpleasant and time-consuming, to gym is a mechanism for inspiration and time creation, allows me to go to the gym more. And the benefits are real: gym allows me time creation and being more mentally agile.

I don’t understand, and don’t agree, with corporations that have fixed processes. I find it close-minded if an HR person says that there are meetings always at 8:30am, 10am and 5pm, and that the sprint cycles are always 2 weeks, no matter what the tasks are. Humans like change (in doubt? Try eating the same dish for a month!), and incorporating slight ongoing chance in processes, is a good thing. The fancy technical term is Continuous Change, and the concept is often presented as an advanced managerial concept. Fundamentally, it’s just variety, or change.

Rotating tools, tasks, goals, and processes is all in the day’s work. I change what I do because that makes me less tired: doing something over and over again can be exhausting; but if I vary the process slightly, it’s more interesting and more engaging.
