Models appear be very well-defined in Drupal. No further action is needed.
The models are what Content Types are. Each Content Type (examples: Page, Article) are effectively models.
Additional models are: each of the vocabularies (taxonomies). Users. And I'm sure other database-stored objects, which I can't name off the top of my head.
I know what question you have on your mind: what is the Object-relational mapper (ORM)? It is PDO.
The ORM has been largely implemented as Dynamic Queries. We encourage the reader to read that documentation, as that pretty much explains the Model in the MVC in Drupal.
